So, with Thanksgiving coming up in T-7 days, I definitely already have visions of pumpkin pie dancing in my head…
But, let’s be real – I’ve been daydreaming of all the food I am going to eat – shouldn’t eat – but am going to eat on Thanksgiving day and the days to follow for about a month now.
As a self-proclaimed foodie, while I do look forward to Black Friday, my main focus is on the food coma I will be in come Thursday evening.
From the stuffing to the pumpkin pie to the cranberry sauce, and oh my gosh – we can’t forget the turkey itself. What is there not to love about Thanksgiving?
It is the one day of the year where it is socially acceptable to eat far too much and enjoy it – and, to yet, still keep eating…
And, while the turkey is the center of attention, let’s not forget about all the side dishes – because they are the real MVPs!
I mean, I don’t know about you, but my ideal Thanksgiving plate is piled high with more sides than anyone should ever have in one meal followed by a few slices of turkey placed ever so carefully right on top of the food mountain.
And, of course, if you are a newbie to preparing your own Thanksgiving – like my newlywed self – you might need a little refresher course on the best Thanksgiving side dishes:
- Green bean casserole
Now, if you don’t do it right then this can easily be the most boring side dish. But, a creamy green bean casserole with a truckload of onion crisps on it is my little slice of heaven.

- Sweet potato casserole
Sweet potato casserole is one of those things that should be a dessert, but it is totally acceptable to eat it as a meal.

- Macaroni and cheese
And, let’s be real – what would ANY meal be without macaroni and cheese?
